The Making of an Aussie Endurance Legend: 8 States, 8 Marathons, 8 Days

Lachlan Stuart arriving in Brisbane after completing 58 marathons

On 20 March 2025, I achieved something that had never been done before. I ran 8 marathons in 8 consecutive days, covering every state and territory of Australia. It was a journey that pushed me to my limits, both physically and mentally, and forever changed the way I view the world and my place in it.

The audacious challenge began in Sydney, where I took my first strides into the unknown. From there, it was on to Canberra, Melbourne, Tasmania, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, and finally back home to Brisbane. Each day brought new terrain, new challenges, and new opportunities to test the depths of my resilience.

More Than a Physical Feat

This was more than just a physical feat. It was a manifestation of my Core 4 philosophy. For those who aren't familiar, that's the foundation of everything I teach: building a Strong Body, Calm Mind, Clear Purpose, and Confident Life. Easy to preach, incredibly difficult to practice.

Preparing my body was one thing. Hour upon hour of pounding the pavement, in scorching heat and pelting rain, conditioning the machine to withstand the impending battering. But the real work was internal. Visualising success, mentally rehearsing each step, and cultivating an invincible mindset.

Excavating the Why

I had to excavate my why to a depth I'd never reached before. To unearth that driving purpose, that unassailable reason to continue putting one foot in front of the other when every fibre of my being screamed to stop. And I had to nurture authentic confidence. Not the hollow bravado that evaporates when the going gets tough, but the unshakeable belief that I was capable of rising to meet this self-determined destiny.

The physical and emotional expedition pushed me beyond what I thought I could endure. There were moments of awe-inspiring beauty juxtaposed with periods of total exhaustion and agony. Throughout it all, I unearthed reservoirs of strength and resilience I didn't know I possessed.

We often don't realise how much we're capable of until we have no choice but to find out. When the only option is to endure and overcome. When the only way out is through.

Breaking Records, Building Belief

In the end, I didn't just break records. I obliterated them. First person to run 8 marathons in 8 days across every Australian state and territory. A feat most dismissed as impossible, now permanently etched in the history books.

But more than the accolades, this odyssey reinforced my deepest conviction: that we all possess infinitely more power than we realise. That when we fully commit to a worthy pursuit and refuse to let adversity break us, we uncover a version of ourselves we never knew existed.

My hope is that by accomplishing this, I can inspire others to dream bigger, to tackle their own "impossible" challenges, and to unlock the immense potential lying latent within us all. Because the path to greatness isn't paved with talent or luck. It's forged through relentless dedication and unwavering faith.

Keep Putting One Foot in Front of the Other

So to everyone out there grappling with a formidable undertaking, I offer this hard-earned wisdom: set your standards high, refuse to compromise or quit, and keep faith in your vision. And through the struggle and the sacrifice, the doubters and the setbacks, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Because limits are an illusion, and the only ones that truly confine us are those we impose on ourselves.

Embracing discomfort is the entry fee for an extraordinary life. Welcome the challenge, relish the resistance, and trust that on the other side of pain awaits a version of you that you'll be forever proud of.

You are so much stronger than you know.
