This one's hard for me to say out loud.
For the last decade, I've been chasing one thing. Not money. Not fame. The ability to look myself in the mirror and say, "I am a good man."
That's it. That's the whole game.
Last week we had two sold-out nights at my documentary premiere in Brisbane. Hundreds of people in the room. And at one point I stopped working, stepped back, and just watched.
It hit me harder than any finish line ever has.
The man I've spent years trying to become, the one who works hard behind the scenes, gives to his community, and tries to inspire other men, was being seen. Not by me this time. By everyone.
That's a feeling you can't buy.
I don't do it for the applause
Let me be straight. The accolades aren't the point. They never have been.
The point is to show men like you that you're capable of far more than you've been told. Most blokes are running at a fraction of what they've got, convinced that's all there is.
It isn't.
It always comes back to the gap
Here's what I keep coming back to, with my clients and with myself.
Everything that matters lives in the gap. The space between who you are right now and who you know you could be.
Most men avoid looking at it because it's uncomfortable. But the gap isn't a problem. It's the map.
The vision you set for your life is what shapes the man you have to become to reach it.
You don't rise to your goals. You fall to your standards, and your standards are built from the man you decide to be.
The question I want you to sit with
So here it is.
Picture a full room. A birthday, a work event, a milestone. Everyone there for you.
Would you be proud of the man standing in front of them?
If the answer is anything less than a clear yes, that's not a failure. That's a starting point. It means you've found the gap. Now you get to close it.
That's the work. That's the whole point of doing hard things, training the body, sharpening the mind, leading your family well. So that when the room fills up, you don't flinch.
You stand there, look around, and know exactly who you are.
